Move-outs and deposits

The walk, the price sheet next to the photos, the move-in record beside the move-out findings, and the letter on each state’s deadline.

A move-out is a clock. The notice starts it; the state’s deposit rule sets the deadline — Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania each differently — and the office sees the days left. The move-out walk is signed on the phone with photos room by room, beside the move-in walk it is compared to.

Charges come from a price sheet tapped in next to the photos, the deposit and its interest are computed from the books, and the letter — refund or balance due, with the rule and the date — is written from the worksheet.

It never moves a dollar; the settlement is a letter a person releases.
